Recipe: Keto Blueberry Smoothie

Smoothies are a quick and easy way to make your brain think you are scooping an ice-cream shake and to fill your tummy with a bunch of nutrients, and, of course, smoothies taste incredibly good. 

Unfortunately, most of the smoothies that we find in stores, cafés and in recipe books are loaded up with fruit, juice, milk, and other ingredients that aren’t exactly keto-friendly. Yes, they do look and taste amazing but they also affect your blood sugar levels and can result in fatigue, trouble concentrating, headache, increased hunger etc.

Vitanja’s keto smoothies are sweetish but contain absolutely no processed sugar. We add heart-healthy polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats from whole, healthy foods, coconut oil, chia and hemp seeds, and other fat-filled yummies, and sometimes berries. Blueberries are super berries because they contain polyphenols that increase blood flow and BDNF, helping you create new brain pathways. And they are quite low in sugar.

PURPOSE

INGREDIENTS
350 ml unsweetened coconut milk
30 g blueberries
1 tsp fresh vanilla bean
15 ml brain octane oil
1 scoop hemp protein powder [optional]
Coconut flakes to decorate

Brain octane oil is fantastic for boosting ketone levels. So why not adding it into your morning keto smoothie or shake?
